Every 1 Give 1 is our way of focusing our mission emphasis so we can make a greater impact on our world. We will collect items or money for one mission or ministry group each month. Ministries chosen as E1G1 focus ministries represent our church needs, local and regional organizations, as well as national and international organizations.
How You Can Help
Check in with our E1G1 team on Sunday mornings to find out how you can contribute to our monthly mission project.
2012 E1G1 Calendar
JANUARY: GUATEMALA MISSION TEAM
The possibilities for our ministry are two-fold: (1) bring the daughter of the building foreman for Catalyst Resources International to Cleveland Clinic for cochlear implant, and (2) helping to house, educate and spiritually develop 11 girls from Catalyst Resources International.
FEBRUARY: RUSSIA VOLUNTEERS IN MISSION TEAM
The trip to visit boarding School No. 5 in Kursk, south of Moscow, has two purposes: (1) to develop relationships with the staff, children, and community through crafts, games, and home visits, and (2) to help the boarding school through work projects.
MARCH: GRACE’S GROUP
In 2007, Tim and Kim Walter daughter, Grace was stillborn at 34 weeks. To honor her memory and give meaning to her life, the family committed to raising funds each year for the March of Dimes “March for Babies” charity walk.
APRIL: HUNGER NETWORK/HUNGER WALK
Through the generous contributions of those who sponsor a walking team member and those who bring packaged and can goods, food for adults and children is provided to more than 100 hunger centers in the Greater Cleveland area.
MAY: FAMILY PROMISE OF CLEVELAND (FORMERLY IHN)
This interfaith ministry of Greater Cleveland provides support for homeless families as they work with social agencies to become independent and contributing members in a local community.
JUNE: M.U.M.S.
To increase social interaction in a setting where they learn that God loves them just as they are, developmentally challenged individuals gather monthly for crafts and snacks, and attend three dances throughout the year.
JULY: ALTERNATOR
By providing education and quality care for pregnant women and their families, Alternaterm works to save the lives of babies who might have been aborted, and also shares the good news of Jesus Christ.
AUGUST: COMMUNITY DINNERS
What comfort to know there is a hot meal at the end of the month – not only for those on a tight budget, but also for folks alone and in need of some companionship.
SEPTEMBER: HEARTLAND CHILDCARE CENTER
Children from the community are ministered to in a weekday program that offers a secure, high-quality, Christian learning environment year-round.
OCTOBER: UNITED METHODIST WOMEN
United Methodist Women focus on collecting donations to help purchase Tools and Blankets. These items are purchased in bulk and sent to areas of poverty or disaster.
NOVEMBER: ANGEL TREE
Gifts for children (an article of clothing, and a toy), are purchased and delivered along with a short message from their parent in prison, as a reminder that they are loved and have not been forgotten.
DECEMBER: PEACE WITH JUSTICE
As the congregation becomes aware of social injustices in the world, funds are used for projects such as Heifer International, where families are guided toward self-reliance through sustainable farming and training in animal care.
