Homeless Stand Down

The Homeless Stand Down (referring to the military term: relaxation in status) is an event that gives the homeless of Cleveland a chance for respite, renewal, and reconnection with the opportunity to resupply with winter clothing and to receive hot meals, haircuts, massages, and access to health and social service providers.
The 2009 Homeless Stand Down will take place on:
Saturday, January 31st, from 9 AM - 3 PM at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Tremont
Friday, Feb. 6th, from 9 AM - 2 PM at the Cleveland Convention Center
Monday, Feb. 16th, from 9 AM - 3 PM at Trinity Commons
There are many ways to help, including donations and volunteering.
Donations Needed: Collection deadline is January 15th.
- 1500 each new or gently used men's winter coats, men's boots, men's winter gloves, hats, scarves in large or extra large sizes
- 1000 long underwear
- 6000 bus passes
- 1500 men's personal care kits
- $30,000
- 1500 bag lunches
Volunteers Needed: Application deadline is January 4th.
- 400 Event volunteers for 1/31, 2/6, and 2/16
- 100 Office and sorting volunteers before the event
- 50 haircutters
- 10 physicians
- 50 massage therapists or Reiki practitioners
All volunteers MUST attend training either on Sunday, January 13th from 2-4 PM or Tuesday January 15th from 7-9 PM. Location to be announced.
To volunteer, please complete the application and sign up for training. You will receive a confirmation packet in the mail by January 7, 2008.
