REV. JAMES F. WINKLER
 

Jim started ministry as lead pastor with the Mayfield Church on July 1, 2018. He grew up in Lakewood and graduated from Hudson High School. After college and grad school, Jim received his MDIV from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in Boston. Jim answered the call to pastoral ministry from the Hudson UMC and has served the Deerfield/Pricetown, Brecksville Associate, Ontario, and Wadsworth UMCs. Most recently Jim served as superintendent of the Ohio Valley District. Jim’s wife Lynelle is a licensed mental health therapist currently serving in the Chesterland area. The three Winkler children and their families (including three preschool granddaughters with a grandson on the way) live and work in Chicago. Of Mayfield Church Jim says, “Praise God for the mission, heritage, facility, leadership, and many varied ministries offered in the name of Jesus. Along with the Great Commission and the Greatest Commandment, we are driven by the question, Where will God lead us next?”

REV. JAN FILLMORE
 
Jan is our associate pastor. She is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. Jan joined our staff in July 2007 after receiving her master of divinity degree from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio. Jan directs our LifeGroups (small group ministries for adults) and oversees our outreach ministries to two elementary schools. She also assists in preaching, teaching, pastoral care and administration. Jan enjoys adventure, and loves to travel (her latest trip was to Zimbabwe). She also enjoys reading, cycling and playing with her dogs: Puck the border collie, and Sweets, the terrier. 
 
ADAM VODICKA
 
Adam is our director of student & young adult ministries. He joined our staff in 2014. A native of Chesterland and a graduate of West Geauga High School, Adam holds a bachelor’s degree in religious studies from Case Western Reserve University and a master of divinity  from Asbury Theological Seminary.  He and his wife, Kate (Collins), met at a Mayfield’s Camp Aldersgate. They have two daughters. He enjoys playing basketball and ultimate Frisbee, reading, and is an avid Cleveland sports fan.
 
DENNY NELSON
 
Denny oversees our middle school ministries, Elevate, for students in  6th through 8th grades. He also assists with Tweens, Vacation Bible School and Camp Aldersgate. Denny has a master’s of divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary and a master’s degree in education from John Carroll University. His full-time job is teaching math to middle-schoolers at a local catholic school.
JESSICA MARTZ
 
Jess is our director of children’s ministries. Jess grew up in Mayfield Church and has served in our children’s ministry since before she was a teenager. She holds  an associate degree in arts and sciences from Lakeland Community College and a bachelor of science degree in social work from Youngstown State University.
DARLENE JANKE
 
Darlene joined our staff in 2017 and serves as our financial administrator. She holds a master’s degree in business administration from Lake Erie College and has 20-plus years of financial and administrative experience. Along with teaching in the business department of area colleges on an as-needed basis, Darlene loves spending time with her two daughters.
REBECCA SULZER
 
Rebecca is our Communications Coordinator.  She has been attending Mayfield Church for 20 years and has a degree in Art Therapy from Mercyhurst College. She is married to Drew Sulzer and they have two sons. She enjoys playing piano with the 9:30 Worship Band, practicing yoga, and traveling.
CYNDI NICHOLSON
 
Cyndi is our coordinator of care and prayer ministries.  She was a BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) leader for 20 years. Cyndi is trained as both a Stephen Leader and a Stephen Minister. She and her husband, Larry, have three grown sons and four grandchildren they enjoy watching.
ANNE PARKER
 
Anne is our coordinator of connection ministries. Anne’s smile combines with her gifts of hospitality and administration to connect people to our church and its ministries. She has a bachelor’s degree in math and secondary education from Grove City College. She and her husband, John, have two daughters. In her free time, she enjoys exercising, sports, and reading.

CAROL NEFF

Carol has been our organist since 1987. She is the accompanist for the adult choir and also rings with the bell choir. Carol is the accompanist for the middle and elementary choirs at Hathaway Brown School, and teaches lessons in piano, flute and organ. She is married to Brian, her high school sweetheart, and they have two married sons, Adam and Matthew, who live in the area. She is also a happy grandma to four grandchildren!

STEVE VEGEL

Steve is our building and grounds manager, on staff since 2012. He supervises two custodians and serves as liaison to the Board of Trustees. He has had his own construction business, and has built houses, restored cars and operated a window-cleaning service. Steve is married to Melanie, the assistant director of Heartland Childcare Center, and they have two sons. Steve enjoys bike riding and outdoor activities.

SERGIO CASTELLANOS

Sergio is our traditional worship director. He holds degrees from Conservatorio Nacional and P.U. Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia (his home country), as well as a master’s degree in music in cello performance from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Va.  Fluent in Spanish, English and Italian, Sergio is the former choir conductor for the 13th Brigade Choir of the Colombian National Army and a member of Touring International Cello Ensemble.
               PATTY WENZEL Patty is our director of Heartland Childcare Center, a five star center in Ohio’s “Step Up to Quality” program. The faith-based preschool and school-age program began in 2005; Patty brought 20 years of early childhood education and experience to the ministry when she joined the staff in 2006. She and her husband, Tim, have six sons, and are enjoying their first grandchild!  
CARRIE BARRY
 

Carrie is our childcare/ nursery coordinator. She has 12  years of experience in the child care field and currently is pursuing a degree in early childhood education. She is married with two children, one boy and one girl. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering at her church.
